EDUCATION COORDINATOR, HEAD START/STATE PRESCHOOL
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Under the general supervision of the Preschool Principal, the Education Coordinator provides the coordination of education services for Head Start and State Preschool programs, including School Readiness for all children. The Coordinator will be assigned a wide scope of management and administrative responsibilities within the preschool programs and perform other related duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize and supervise instructional operations and activities of the Head Start/State Preschool programs; Ensure delivery of a high quality teaching and learning; Monitor to ensure compliance with County, State, and Federal regulations and standards; Supervise staff and conduct formal staff evaluations; Develop and maintain program budgets; Prepare written reports, letters, documents, etc., in an efficient, timely manner; Collect and organize data in an effective manner; Plan and/or provide staff development and training; Establish and maintain supportive relationships with District and community; Ensure screenings, assessments, and delivery of services for children with special needs; Organize and conduct program self-assessments; Participate in on-going professional growth activities.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of Early Childhood Education principles and best practices; Knowledge of practices, procedures and laws pertaining to special education in Early Childhood settings; Ability to communicate in an effective, professional manner in both written and verbal formats and maintain positive relationships with children, families, staff and community members; Demonstrate knowledge of Head Start and State Preschool regulations and licensing regulations; Ability to effectively organize, plan, and manage the operation of dispersed sites; Ability to provide supervision and evaluations of staff; Ability to plan and conduct/facilitate staff development, meetings, and presentations; Demonstrated computer skills to include word processing and data analysis.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess a BA/BS (Master’s preferred) with a valid Child Development Program Director Permit.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform physical activities, such as lifting of children, equipment or heavy items (up to 50 pounds); stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting in small chairs or on the floor; subject to exposure to biological conditions which may be unhealthful or hazardous (such as bodily fluids, waste and germs).
Training Requirements:
Possess or able to obtain and maintain CLASS Reliability
Possess or able to obtain current Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certificate
Other Requirements:
Must possess a valid California driver’s license; verification of a negative TB test or chest x-ray; Must pass fingerprint clearance for all appropriate agencies; Must provide recent initial health screening and periodic re-screenings to assure absence of significant health or safety risks.
