Job Description

CAMPUS SUPERVISOR I

 

JOB SUMMARY

Positions in this class are assigned to an Elementary (K-8) or middle school and report to a site administrator. Performance in this class requires that the position be able to establish rapport and gain the respect of students, to control student behavior in routine classroom and non-classroom activities, and to identify and handle the presence of unauthorized individuals on the campus, and perform other related work as may be required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Enforce District and school policies and rules;
  • Monitor and control student behavior in non-classroom activities including, but not limited to, before school

activities, lunch time activities, recesses, and bus boarding, referring students to administrator as necessary;

  • Monitor, control, and provide direction to unauthorized persons on the campus and in the parking lot;
  • Assist teachers in classroom supervision;
  • Observe and control or report any damage to school property;
  • Perform campus and parking lot control and monitoring functions and activities;
  • Assist administrator, contact parents, schools, law enforcement agencies, and other groups to give or obtain information related to student behavior and other job-related items;
  • Assist ill students or students experiencing difficulty by escorting them to the health office or appropriate administrative offices;
  • Maintain simple records, and may prepare vandalism, property damage, and theft reports;
  • Report inappropriate student behavior and prepare the necessary incident reports.

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiple and divide with 10’s and 100’s;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form;
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with those contacted in the course of work;
  • Respond appropriately to evaluation & changes in the work setting.  

EDUCATION

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above.

 

EXPERIENCE

One year of experience working with adolescent age students performing supervision and control services;

 

REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES

  • If required to operate a vehicle in the performance of duties, operator must possess a valid and appropriate California Driver's License;
  • Have an acceptable driving record and qualify for insurability by the District's insurance carrier.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carry out the essential job functions listed above.

Physical Demands

  • Grasp/ manipulate materials, equipment, and supplies (frequently);
  • Use seeing, hearing & speaking (continuously);
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps;
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
  • Sit, look down, turn neck (frequently);
  • Walk, stand, bend, stoop, reach, twist (occasionally);
  • Squat, kneel, push, pull, climb stairs (infrequently);
  • Lift & carry items to 10 pound (occasionally), to 25 pounds (infrequently).

Working Conditions

  • Indoor classrooms, outdoor school yard & grounds.
  • Exposure to moderate to loud student & campus noise;
  • Seasonal temperatures dust and wind.
