Work-Based Learning Teacher-District Office
(2025-26 School Year)DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Director of Career Technical Education, the Work-Based Learning (WBL) Teacher will serve in a districtwide support role to oversee and implement high-quality work-based learning opportunities for students enrolled in Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways in grades TK-12. The WBL Teacher will be responsible for identifying, developing, and evaluating partnerships and internship opportunities, and rostering students into internship courses as needed, and serving as a liaison between Hemet Unified School District, community and business partners, college programs, and families. The WBL teacher will ensure that work-based learning experiences align with industry standards and educational outcomes and implement elements of a High Quality CTE program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop a comprehensive Work Based Learning continuum for grades TK-12 along with supporting district wide events such as Mock Interviews, Career Days, College and Career Fairs, student networking events, and others that support the work of the district WBL Continuum;
- Identify, develop, and align work-based partnerships in the surrounding communities that will lead to learning experiences for students in CTE pathways;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of work-based partnerships by measuring outcome data;
- Develop and manage promotional material for CTE programs including printed material, multimedia materials, and develop and maintain an active social media system of communication;
- Collect, analyze, and report out on data related to progress on work-based learning activities;
- Research and incorporate local, county, state, and federal employment trends into planning and execution of work-based learning activities;
- Collaborate with staff and partners on the fulfillment of work-based learning objectives;
- Offer feedback and strategies on the progress and outcomes of work-based partnerships;
- Attend and conduct professional development for staff and community members regarding the alignment to the elements of a High Quality CTE Program with an emphasis on work-based learning activities with industry sectors, pathways, curriculum, and CTE Model Curriculum Standards and California Standards for Career Ready Practice;
- Organize and facilitate the implementation of comprehensive, curricular, and extra curricular Career Technical Student Organization and leadership for grades TK-12;
- Participate in community events and networking opportunities with various city, county, and state agencies, including but not limited to Chambers of Commerce;
- Participate with local and regional consortium partners;
- Workforce Development, Inland Empire Desert Regional Consortium, K12 Strong Workforce Program, and other CTE related agencies;
- Present to staff, partners, community members, and education agencies on work-based learning;
- Lead marketing efforts that incorporate annual, quarterly, and monthly goals and benchmarks;
- Develop and distribute reference materials to staff, partners, community members, and education agencies;
- Support industry sector and pathway advisories through promoting the event, inviting aligned partners, supporting teacher participation, and co-facilitation;
- Hold a roster of internships students as needed;
- Implement all elements of the Hemet Unified Instructional Framework as it pertains to College and Career Readiness. Facilitate data driven systems improvement cycle to support the College and Career Indicator (CCI);
- Travel between various sites as needed;
- Performs job assignment safely for the purpose of protecting people and property;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Career Technical Education (CTE) and work-based learning (WBL), including program design, legal compliance, and equitable access. The following outlined elements is the key expertise required to support high-quality CTE programs and student success:
- Strategies to ensure equitable access to college and career opportunities.
- Local community, business resources, and partnership development.
- Best practices for student supervision and student internship, student run enterprise, and pre-apprenticeship implementation.
- Work-based learning (WBL) models and the continuum of learning opportunities, including internships, Community Classrooms (CC), and Cooperative Vocational Education (CVE).
- Career Technical Education (CTE), including teaching strategies, occupational training, industry sectors and pathways, and the 11 Elements of a High-Quality CTE Program.
- Labor market information (LMI), industry advisories, and career technical student organizations (CTSOs).
- State and federal laws and regulations impacting CTE, WBL, and internships.
- Career academy structures, enrollment systems, student recordkeeping, and rostering procedures
ABILITY TO:
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals;

- Write and present reports;Communicate using a variety of technologies and instructional media;
- Knowledge of basic computer literacy including ability to do internet research, email, and use basic word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software or online platforms;
- Motivate and lead others;
- Work independently under organizational guidelines;
- Drive a personal vehicle to conduct work at various sites.
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Career Technical Education, or a related field.
- Experience with internship rostering systems and student placement tracking (Preferred)
- Three (3) years of teaching experience in Career Technical Education (Preferred)
CREDENTIAL:
- Valid California Single Subject or Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential.
- EL Authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent).
- Valid California Driver’s License and ability to travel locally.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position must perform in carrying out the essential functions of the position.
Physical Demands: Walk, look downward, turn neck (up to continuously) sit, bend, (frequently); stand, stoop, squat, reach, push, pull, (Occasionally; kneel, crawl. Climb (infrequently); grasp/manipulate materials & supplies (continuously); lift items to 10 pounds (frequently), carry to 10 pounds (occasionally), lift/carry to 40 pounds (infrequently) (occasionally for PE and Industrial Arts teachers) use seeing, hearing and speaking (continuous, in class).
Working Conditions:Indoor classrooms, exposure to: student noise and music, odors of food and science projects, possible communicable diseases or unruly students. Outdoor schoolyard and grounds, exposure to; temperatures, dust, pesticides and smoke (seasonally)

Teacher Salary Schedule plus 10 days
