Coordinator of Student Physical Health and Wellness
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Director of Student Services, the Coordinator of Student Physical Health & Wellness shall provide technical, specialized, consultative, advisory, and planning services to the Student Services Department, nurses, health technicians, and school sites; plan, organize, develop, recommend, and evaluate health services and prevention programs, processes, and procedures; serve as a resource to school sites and Student Services Department in the assigned area of specialization; conduct special studies, meetings, and in-services; monitor legislation and provide interpretation and guidance; perform related duties as assigned and work in collaboration with other team members, the community, and the families we serve.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
(may include, but is not limited to, the following)
• Conduct immunization programs under Section 49403 and ensure that every pupil’s immunization status complies with the law, including parental or guardian consent and good health practice.
• Managing district-wide health services, such as immunization clinics, health screenings, and emergency medical procedures.
• Oversight and management of Medi-Cal billing and moment-in-time surveys for Hemet USD
• Provide oversight and training for RN school nurses, health services specialist/LVNs (HSS-LVN), and site health services assistants (HSA) and delineate their duties.
• Assist students, parents, and school personnel in identifying and utilizing mutually acceptable private and community health delivery services for professional care.
• Serve as a resource person to school personnel, including conducting in-service education regarding health, wellness, and prevention related to Safe and Drug-Free School programs, tobacco use prevention, and health education programs.
• Prevent and control infectious disease outbreaks in collaboration with public health through assessment, inspections, exclusions, and re-admissions.
• Maintain and improve professional competence through continuing education and participation in activities for professional growth.
• Organize and monitor files and documents to monitor implementation and practices.
• Plan and write grant proposals for District programs. Manage and supervise staff associated with grant programs.
• Assist parents and pupils in mitigating transportation, lack of medical coverage, and other barriers to needed health services.
• Assist in supervising, evaluating, and coordinating training for credentialed district school nurses, LVN-Health Care Specialists, Health Services clerical staff, and Health Technicians.
• Oversee Medi-Cal billing and reimbursement processes, ensuring accurate and timely claims submission.
• Work closely with school administrators, site and district teams, community agencies, students, and families to promote student health and wellness.
• Provide oversight on the maintenance, development, and implementation of student health care plans to ensure legal compliance and prescribed service is provided for students.
• Work in collaboration with district teams to enhance and develop students' social and emotional well-being.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Master's Degree or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in supervision, administration, student physical and mental health, and curriculum development; experience in the public school system and site administrative experience preferred. Experience with student welfare and support is highly desirable.
CREDENTIAL AND LICENSES:
● Valid General Administration, Standard Administration, and Administrative Services credential.
● Valid California teaching, Pupil Personnel Services or like credential.
● Valid California Driver’s license;
● Maintain possession of such license during the course of employment.

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position must perform in carrying out the essential functions listed above.
Physical Demands: Sit, look downward, reach, (up to frequently); stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, push, pull, foot controls (occasionally); climb stairs, twist (infrequently); repetitive hand activities within close reach, such as files, keyboard & handwriting (frequently); lift/ carry up to 25 pounds (occasionally), may lift/ carry child up to 75 pounds (infrequently); extensive reading; use vision, hearing & speaking (including in-person, phone & public address.)
Working Conditions: Indoor office, outdoor school yard & grounds, driving to different sites.
