SUBSTITUTE CAMPUS SUPERVISOR
JOB SUMMARY
Positions allocated to this class are assigned to a Middle or Senior High School campus to help maintain an orderly campus by personal patrol and to create an atmosphere on campus that is conducive to maintaining the educational process. Must possess tolerance, understanding, and knowledge of juvenile laws and procedures and be able to work closely with law enforcement and with other agencies such as the paramedics, fire department, and probation department.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Enforcing District and school policies and rules;
-
Monitor and control student behavior in non-classroom activities including, but not limited to, before-school activities, lunchtime activities, pass time, and bus boarding, referring students to administrator as necessary;
-
Patrol and check faculty, visitor, and student parking lot areas, locked bicycle areas, student lunch areas, and other campus locations to prevent altercations and campus disorders and generally supervise student conduct and activities;
-
Report reckless driving to administration;
-
Patrol campus to check on students who may be suspected of being in possession of or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, in possession of lethal weapons, or may be truant or cutting classes;
-
May assist teachers in classroom supervision;
-
May assist during lunch periods, overseeing lunch detentions and supervising students;
-
Check and screen non-student visitors on campus;
-
May go to another campus to assist with problems involving these schools students;
-
May assist the administrator in contacting parents, schools, law enforcement agencies, paramedics, and other groups to give or obtain information or assistance related to student behavior and activities;
-
Maintain simple records;
-
Perform other related work as may be required.

Perform evening and weekend student supervision services;

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or Certificate of Proficiency.
Experience: Any combination equivalent to sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES

Possession of and maintain a valid California Driver's License during the course of employment;
-
Have an acceptable driving record;
-
Must be insurable at standard rates by the District's insurance carrier and maintain such insurability during the course of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out the essential functions.
Physical Demands: Grasp/ manipulate materials, equipment, and supplies (frequently); Use seeing, hearing & speaking (continuously); Understand and carry out oral and written directions; Sit, look down, turn neck (frequently); Walk, stand, bend, stoop, reach, twist (occasionally); Squat, kneel, push, pull, climb stairs (infrequently); Lift & carry items to 10 pounds (occasionally), to 25 pounds (infrequently).
Working Conditions: Indoor classrooms, outdoor school yard & grounds. Exposure to students and moderate to loud campus noise; Seasonal temperatures, dust, and wind.
