COORDINATOR OF SCHOOL, FAMILY, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Student Support or designee, the Coordinator provides educational support to our diverse community of parents in an effort to make them more active partners in the education of school-aged children. The Coordinator provides educational and parent engagement opportunities, access to community resources, including but not limited to Community School extended support. Additionally, the Coordinator provides support and guidance to families within the District to strengthen family and student success. The Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to lead and deliver training, parent education, and engagement programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:• Coordinates parent education and engagement programs, including, but not limited to, those connected with general education, the English Learner program, special education, attendance intervention, and other parent programs;
• Manages and supports Community & Parent Liaisons;
• Coordinates parent engagement activities/services for outlying schools;
• Conducts training and orientation for parents through workshops and individual consultation;
• Visits and monitors school sites to promote and validate parent engagement;
• Coordinates and conducts annual Hemet Unified School District community events;
• Provides professional development and coaching;
• Collaborates with site administration, district, and site-based teams PK-12 on the implementation of parent and student engagement programs, grants, and goals;
• Prepares and publishes applicable portions of District newsletters/website;
• Organizes and provides information and assists families in obtaining access to school programs and resources for parents about parent education programs provided by the District and the school sites; • Works collaboratively across divisions and school sites to develop, monitor, and implement contracts and Memorandums of Understanding;
• Train administrative, certificated, and classified staff;
• Supervise and evaluate certificated, classified, and administrative staff as needed;
• Collaboratively plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates HUSD’s School, Family, and Community;
• Perform other related work as may be required;
• Serves as organizer and of the School, Family, and Community Partnership Collaborative to include community access to washer/dryer systems, food pantries, and clothing resources;
• Organizes workshop opportunities, professional development, trainings, and conferences for parents, community, and staff;
• Coordinates and supports community resources, and leads work around multi-tiered systems of support;
• Identifies and collaborates with a variety of agencies to provide resources and services that provide support to HUSD families and students;
• Coordinates services with Title I Parent Involvement requirements;
• Represents the District at the county, regional, and state meetings as well as with institutes of higher education and Community-Based Organizations, as appropriate;
• Works collaboratively with departments to develop, plan, and manage overall activities of the HUSD’s prevention programs to meet community, city, state, and federal goals in the prevention of tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use while serving as the District’s primary contact for prevention, intervention, as it relates to materials/resources to advance the understanding and application of research-based and research-informed practice;
• Evaluates programs, services, and staff to recommend and/or ensure that services are delivered in a timely manner and in compliance with the mandated requirements;
• Collaborate cross-divisionally and with school sites in facilitating and monitoring progress within MTSS and related systems, such as attendance intervention meetings, SSTs, 504s and IEPs;
• Support and co-facilitate grants and services for outlying schools and monitor the effectiveness of programs;
• Develops and manages program budgets and expenditures; monitors revenue receipts and projections; prepares and submits financial and budget reports to the State; prepares grant applications, data, and written reports documenting progress, expenditures, and program activities; prepares and maintains records and reports related to assigned programs, services, and other activities;
• Provides oversight and monitors billable services through CYBHI, LEA Medi-Cal billing, and similar programs;
• Organizes and coordinates the day-to-day operations of Foster Youth and Homeless student programs throughout Riverside County; provides leadership, coordination, and oversight in the operation of the Foster Youth Services (FYS) and Homeless Youth Services; evaluates program effectiveness and recommends methods of improvement.KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Principles, practices, and strategies related to family engagement, community partnerships, and parent education programs in a K–12 educational setting;
• Record-keeping requirements established by the District;
• Well-developed competency in partnering with culturally and linguistically diverse populations;
• Community resources available to supplement services provided by the District;
• Using a personal computer and common office productivity software and programs for accessing student information;
• Federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to Title I Parent Involvement, Foster Youth, Homeless Education, English Learner programs, special education, attendance intervention, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS);
• Sufficient English writing skills to prepare reports and presentations;
• Effective methods for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating educational, prevention, intervention, and community engagement programs and services;
• Effective oral and written communication techniques, public speaking, facilitation, conflict resolution, and professional development delivery for diverse audiences, including parents, students, staff, and community stakeholders;
• Data collection, program evaluation methodologies, needs assessment practices, and continuous improvement processes are used to measure program effectiveness and compliance. ABILITY TO:
• Independently perform all of the duties of the position efficiently and effectively;
• Coordinate, advise, and plan parent education programs;
• Learn, interpret, explain and apply knowledge of District, English Learner, Special Education, GATE, and other educational programs, operations, and functions;
• Act as a resource to a variety of District and site staff, parents, students, and community agencies; • Plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to meet schedules and timelines;
• Coordinate and organize multiple projects;
• Conduct orientations and trainings to small and large groups;
• Communicate with students, staff, parents, and the public in a manner that reflects positively on the District;
• Plan and conduct presentations and professional development;
• Effectively evaluate all assigned staff.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
