TOSA – Teaching and Learning Designer/Facilitator
Grant Funded PositionJOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of an administrator from the Student Support Service Division or designee, the Teaching and Learning Designer/Facilitator will support the District’s initiatives in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The Designer/Facilitator will function as an instructional designer and content expert within the District. The Designer/Facilitator will provide leadership and guidance in content-specific scope and sequence work, instructional delivery utilizing curriculum and best practices, and assessment of grade-level standards. The Designer/Facilitator will support the development and delivery of content-related professional development. The Designer/Facilitator will use improvement tools and strategies to understand and respond to the needs of the system to improve student outcomes. The Designer/Facilitator will support district compliance with California Common Core Standards and the California Standards for the Teaching Profession, and the Expanded Learning Opportunity Quality Standards. This is a district-based position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and facilitate the creation and training of academic and enrichment lessons for ELOP, including specialized curriculum for Attendance Recovery Programs, and Saturday School programs;
- Provide expertise and guidance in content area-specific curriculum, instruction, and assessment;
- Use data and improvement science methodologies to drive decision-making;
- Promote, lead, and train in the continuous growth of Professional Learning Communities and Improvement;
- Lead onboarding for new certificated and classroom-based classified staff on best practices regarding curriculum, instruction, assessment, and improvement science;
- Provide on-site professional development and demonstration lessons to ensure staff are knowledgeable about program components and instructional design;
- Provide coaching and guidance to site administrators, teachers, and support staff;
- Identify and monitor appropriate instructional strategies and materials to improve enrichment experiences within the program;
- Complete the necessary duties for any attendance recovery programs, ensuring all documentation and student work meet district and state compliance standards;
- Participate in collaborative meetings with site ELOP staff and district-based administration to align and support program expectations and goals;
- Work constructively with colleagues and others for the purpose of improving the quality of a student’s behavior and/or academic success;
- Attend meetings, workday training, collaborations and professional learning as directed by a student support administrator;
- Oversee and monitor student enrollment and waitlist data to share with ELOP administration and staff as appropriate and provide ongoing training and support to ensure ELOP staff are enrolling to capacity and based on identified needs;
- Prepare and monitor data visuals and reports for district and site ELOP staff to analyze for programmatic effectiveness;
- Prepares forms, records, and reports as directed;
- Attends meetings and training as directed;
- Flex schedule required as appropriate;
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Some positions may require the flexing of hours with a determined start/end time according to daily need.

EXPERIENCE:
- Possession of a bachelor’s or higher degree. Master’s Degree preferred;
- A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience;
- Presenting and/or coaching adults desired;
- Evidence of experience in the desired content area;
- Evidence of experience in assisting and enhancing the professional growth of colleagues;
- Willingness to continue to seek professional development credential(s).
CREDENTIAL AND LICENSES:
- Possession of a valid California Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential with an English Learner Authorization.

Physical Demands: Walk, look downward, turn neck (up to continuously), sit, bend (frequently), stand, stoop, squat, reach, push, pull (occasionally), kneel, crawl, climb (infrequently), grasp/manipulate materials & supplies (continuously), lift items 10 pounds (frequently), carry to 10 pounds (occasionally), lift/carry to 40 pounds (infrequently), use vision, hearing, and speaking (continuously), drive a personal vehicle to conduct business.
Working Conditions: Indoor classrooms and workspaces, exposure to: office equipment noises, driving on mountain roads, temperature changes, dust, pesticides and smoke (seasonally). Subject to demanding timelines and interruptions and daily contact with staff and the public.
