Position Dates: Anticipated to start in June of 2026
Work Hours/Days:
10 hours per day | Monday to Thursday | 6:00 am to 4:30 pm with 30 minute lunch (June 8th to July 17th), EXCEPT FOR: Week of June 15th & 29th. Those weeks will follow the following work schedule:

8 hours per day | Monday to Friday | 7:00 am to 4:00 pm with 1.0 hour lunch (July 20th to August 31st)
This is a short-term/at-will internship position for approximately 16 weeks (please note: hours are subject to change due to department needs). Once the internship is completed, recommended Interns may have the opportunity to continue employment as a Classified Substitute Print Operations Assistant position with the same rate of pay.

PRINT OPERATIONS ASSISTANT
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the reprographics Manager, operate a variety of digital duplication equipment in the reproduction of typewritten, printed or art layouts; to operated related printing equipment; to perform some preventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment; load equipment with paper, inks and toner; perform related clerical activities; answer questions asked by customers; and to perform other related work as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Primarily operate the equipment necessary to reproduce printed material for the District and outside customers;
• Assist in maintaining the supplies, services and equipment of the reprographics center;
• Operate various types of duplicating equipment using specialized procedures;
• Operate other equipment such as staplers, power cutters, joggers, laminators, binders, drill press, folding and padding machines, garment printers, embroidery equipment, slitters, perforators, mechanical binders and shrink wrappers;
• Clean and make adjustments to equipment necessary to keep them in good working condition;
• May contact service contractors for other necessary repairs;
• Maintain equipment records and copy counts; • Store, box and deliver printed materials;
• Record and file jobs;
• Provide pricing and proposals to customers;
• Lift boxes of paper and load equipment;
• Order machine and paper supplies as needed;
• Drive a motor vehicle for deliveries;
• May be subject to peak loads, interruptions, and pressure to meet deadlines.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS KNOWLEDGE OF
• Operation and care of digital printing equipment and machines preferred; .
• Assembling, binding and collating of materials preferred; .
• Basic arithmetic;
• Correct filing, record keeping, alphabetizing and indexing.
ABILITY TO
• Learn procedures and operations rapidly and accurately;
• Determine types and sizes of paper used in printing;
• Interpret, follow and understand written and verbal instructions;
• Make arithmetic calculations and keep accurate records;
• Have a basic understanding of mechanical equipment and ability to operate them safely;
• Establish and maintain and effective working relationship with District employees and outside customers during the course of work.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above.
EXPERIENCE
Entry level position.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of and maintain a valid and California Driver’s License during the course of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands:
Sitting (up to continuously); stand, walk, bend, stoop, look up/down (occasionally); push, pull, twist, squat, climb stairs (infrequently); repetitive hand activities within close reach, such as keyboard, mouse, handwriting, files & phone (continuously); lift/carry office supplies up to 10 pounds (occasionally), to 50 pounds (infrequently); use seeing, hearing and speaking.
Working Conditions: District print shop, school offices and grounds. Exposure to: inside/outside temperature swings, use of office equipment & supplies, proximity to alarms. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.
