Education/Certification: An applicant for an educational aide III certificate shall: (1) hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher; (2) have satisfied one of the following requirements: (A) have three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II; or (B) have completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas; and (3) have experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent. Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate (Note: The COCISD Human Resources Dept. can work with you to obtain the Paraprofessional and Educational Aide certificates) Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively Experience: Two years of experience working with children

1. Assist and support teachers in the delivery of a strongly aligned district curriculum to targeted students. 2. Determine instructional intervention strategies that reflect understanding of the diverse needs of students and those identified as at-risk of failure. 3. Provide remedial/intervention instruction to students in individual, small group and in team teaching situations. 4. Establish and maintain strong relationships with students. 5. Assist in the implementation of the district RTI program and serve as a liaison between the district and campus RTI team. 6. Coordinate and provide leadership on the RTI teams, as well as the documentation required for each child under the RTI program. 7. Develop and implement plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's intervention program and show written evidence of preparation as required by intervention guidelines. 8. Monitor, report, and track the progress of student progress and interventions for at-risk students. 9. Work with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed and design interventions for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP) and/or 504 plan. 10. Provide accelerated instruction as prescribed in the Accelerated Instruction Plan (AIP) for each student who did not meet standard on previous STAAR assessments. 11. Work with other members of the staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements. 12. Employ the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process. 13. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. 14. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. 15. Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district. 16. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students. 17. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. 18. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 19. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. 20. Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences principals and teachers. 21. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents and community members. 22. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. 23. Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills. 24. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. 25. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. 26. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. 27. Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.
