About This Role:
We are seeking an equity-driven, compassionate, and detail-oriented Assistant Principal who will serve as a collaborative instructional leader and culture-builder. The ideal candidate is grounded in student-centered practices, brings strong systems and data orientation, and is eager to support a diverse community that includes neurodivergent learners and students with a wide range of learning styles and lived experiences. While experience in Special Education is preferred, it is not required.
This individual will report to the Principal and support with school operations, professional development, instructional coaching, MTSS, and student support systems. They will play a key role in cultivating an inclusive, affirming, and high-achieving school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership

Support teachers through coaching, feedback, and professional development to ensure strong, culturally responsive instruction aligned to our constructivist model.

Utilize data to inform decisions, monitor student progress, and lead school-wide improvement efforts.

Collaborate with teachers to implement inclusive practices that meet the needs of all learners, including students receiving special education and English language development support.
Student Support & School Culture

Foster a warm, inclusive school culture that reflects CWC’s core values and celebrates all identities and learning styles.

Partner with the Principal to lead restorative practices and student support systems, with attention to neurodivergent needs.

Oversee Special Education department, attend IEPs, or co-lead MTSS/SST and behavior intervention systems in collaboration with instructional and support teams.
Family & Community Engagement

Build trusting relationships with families and the broader community.

Coordinate school events and celebrations that honor student identities and foster belonging (e.g., heritage months, student showcases, community nights).
Operational & Team Leadership

Support school-wide systems including assessment coordination, attendance, safety, and scheduling.

Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and training new staff members.

Actively participate in regional collaboration and learning with peers across CWC LA’s network.
Qualifications:
-
Valid California teaching credential; administrative credential preferred
-
At least three (3) years of successful teaching experience, ideally in diverse elementary settings
-
Strong understanding of inclusive, anti-bias teaching practices
-
Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including neurodivergent learners
-
Excellent organization, follow-through, and data analysis skills
-
Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal communication

Deep belief in student potential and commitment to CWC’s mission

Fluency in a second language is a plus (especially Spanish or Korean)
