Role Overview: 

 

CWC LA is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial spirited Senior Manager of Community Giving & Engagement to lead fundraising and family engagement initiatives region-wide while advancing CWC LA’s commitment and principles to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. This key leadership role will drive community-building efforts and manage fundraising programs targeting $1 million in annual revenue, growing each year as we expand our student population in the coming years.

 

The ideal candidate will combine systems thinking with strong interpersonal skills to develop inclusive engagement strategies, design impactful events, and build lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders including school leadership, staff, and parent volunteers. Based at the CWC LA Regional Office with regular presence at school sites, this role requires flexibility to attend morning, evening, and weekend events to foster meaningful community connections.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Community Giving

  • Provide hands-on support and strategic leadership to meet annual fundraising goals for each school 

  • Manage school-wide fundraising campaigns and events such as

    •  CWC LA schools host 3-4 signature campaigns throughout the year (Annual Family Give, Thons, Auction, Spring Bash) plus additional events based on community interests and needs (e.g. Comedy Nights) 

  • Collaborate with school-based staff (e.g. Principals, Community Coordinators) and Senior Manager of Communications to design and implement successful communication strategies to promote campaigns and interact with donors (e.g. social media, video creation, and emails to families) 

  • Lead and serve as liaison to parent/caregiver committees to support fundraising efforts

  • Provide oversight, resources, and support to additional school site fundraising efforts (merchandise, dine-out events, etc.)

  • With the support of the Grants and Fundraising Systems Manager, set up and manage fundraising platforms for each campaign/event, track incoming donations, track participation levels, troubleshoot as needed to help donors successfully submit donations   

  • Create strategies for donor retention and sustained giving 

 

Community Engagement

  • Strategically, inclusively, and collaboratively lead the Family Engagement trajectory - working cross functionally to ensure that families feel engaged and cared for from their first experience with CWC LA through becoming alumni students and families

  • Hold CWC LA’s values around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging central to all decision making and programming to ensure that families have access to the resources they need and feel invited to participate in their school communities

  • Develop tool-kits, resources, and playbooks to support school-site leadership in effective community engagement throughout all of their communications, events, programming, and volunteer engagement opportunities

  • Recruit, train and support volunteer and committee members

  • Support community event planning and execution (e.g. timelines, preferred vendors, budgets, etc.)

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or equivalent experience 

  • 5-7 years of experience in non-profit fundraising or school site family engagement

 

  • Core Competencies: 

    • Strategic Community Engagement & Fundraising: Demonstrated ability to design and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies that build authentic community partnership and meet revenue targets

    • Inclusive Program Development: Skilled in creating accessible, culturally responsive engagement initiatives that reflect and serve diverse community needs while advancing organizational DEIB principles

    • Relationship Management & Leadership: Experience building and nurturing relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, from parent volunteers to school leadership, while effectively managing complex collaborative projects

    • Event Strategy & Execution: Proven ability to plan and implement large-scale community events and fundraising campaigns across multiple sites while maintaining strong attention to detail and stakeholder satisfaction

    • Systems Development & Implementation: Skilled in creating scalable processes, resources, and toolkits that enhance fundraising effectiveness and strengthen community engagement across school sites

    • Adaptive Communication & Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to craft compelling messaging, navigate sensitive conversations, and develop creative solutions while maintaining focus on mission-aligned outcomes

 

  • Technical Competencies: 

    • CRM systems (Neon or similar platforms) 

    • Google Workspace or comparable

    • Basic design and website skills a plus 

    • Strong quantitative analysis skills
