With the support of administrators, the Culture Lead will help manage major behaviors (tiered behaviors 2-3) in and out of class while effectively monitoring hallways and managing minor behaviors (out of class, hallway roaming, tier 1 behaviors). The Culture Lead will implement Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) in the form of small group lessons and individual interventions. During Roots, the Culture Lead will/can hold a small group session to help students practice and acquire appropriate social skills. To assess individual interventions, the Culture Lead will observe students in their classrooms to identify environmental triggers and provide teachers with feedback and suggestions for the specific student. Then the Culture Lead will adapt a behavior contract that involves check-ins and check-outs, a behavior tracker, and parental contact every day if needed.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting students in prescribed learning activities

• Implementing Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) in one-on-one interactions or within small groups

• Monitoring student behavior and utilizing approved behavior management techniques to redirect and modify inappropriate behaviors

• Monitoring, observing, and reporting behavioral data of students according to approved procedures

• Supervision of morning arrival, class transitions, lunch, and dismissal

• Regular check-ins with other staff members and grade level teams to discuss student behaviors and interventions

• Facilitating small group

• Serving as the primary resource for students who need de-escalation support

• Performing related tasks as required or assigned by administration

Skill/Traits/Qualifications
• Completion of at least 48 semester units or 60 quarter units. Associate's degree preferred

• One year of paid or volunteer experience working with students with disabilities, including students with autism

• Training in implementing Behavior Intervention techniques as well as demonstrated experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) based behavior intervention techniques

• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills as well as a desire to collaborate with various different stakeholders to help develop a whole-school community

• Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and can-do attitude.
