Location: Los Angeles, California (Hollywood, Mar Vista, Silver Lake, San Fernando Valley)

Reports to: School Operations Manager

Position Description

The Meal Server is responsible for performing all the duties necessary to execute a successful meal service.  They are responsible for set up, break down and clean up of each meal period. They are a visible presence on campus, interacting with staff and students regularly. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute the setup, serving, and breakdown of meals during designated meal periods in accordance with established procedures and schedules

  • Ensure adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations throughout all stages of meal preparation and service

  • Manage and track supporting documentation, such as meal counts, inventory records, and sanitation logs, to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with school district policies and procedures

  • Maintain a clean and organized eating area, including tables, chairs, and serving stations, to provide an inviting environment for students and staff

  • Assist in the replenishment of food items and supplies as needed to ensure availability throughout meal periods

  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues or concerns promptly

  • Monitor food consumption and assist in minimizing waste by following portion control guidelines and implementing efficient serving practices

  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) in a manner that is compliant with school guidelines and government compliance regulations

  • Keep students informed of the scheduled menu and new items while looking for ways to increase breakfast participation, Gets student/customer feedback, (food quality, likes and dislikes) and communicates feedback to management

  • Provide friendly and courteous service to students, staff, and visitors, answering questions and addressing requests in a professional manner

  • Collaborate with school administration and nutrition personnel to support compliance with meal program regulations and promote healthy eating habits among students

  • Support student supervision to ensure orderly lines and student safety

  • Support main office operations

  • Additional duties as necessary to prioritize the maintenance of a safe environment, adherence to meal program compliance, and optimization of operational efficiency

 

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of one year of relevant work experience

  • School and/or customer service experience preferred, but not required

  • Understanding of computer software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google suite and willingness to learn new software programs

  • Ability to lift/move items up to 40lbs in weight

  • Food Handler’s Certificate (CWC can support an individual in attaining this after becoming employed)
