The mission of Citizens of the World Los Angeles (CWC LA) is to provide a socio-economically, culturally, and racially diverse community of students in Los Angeles with an intellectually challenging, experiential learning environment that develops each student's confidence, potential, and individual responsibility as citizens of the world. CWC schools:

CWC LA has a Regional Support Office that supports all CWC LA schools. We work with our network partners at Citizens of the World Charter Schools, linking the schools in Los Angeles to CWC schools in other parts of the country.

Position Description

The Occupational Therapist (OT) will assess and provide occupational therapy for studets in grades TK-8. They will focus on developing students' skills in this area to support their ability to access their educational program. 

The Occupational Therapist’s responsibilities include:

• Appraise the occupational therapy needs of students to design and implement appropriate remediation, instructional plans and strategies; 
• Assist teams in the development of IEPs that address physical and functional needs of students; 
• Develop a variety of evidence-based instructional activities to meet the student’s individual occupational therapy goals/objectives; 
• Conduct occupational therapy screenings; 
• Follow and implement treatment plans; 
• Track service delivery in Welligent weekly;
• Document student progress towards meeting established goals and objectives; 
• Conduct formal assessments; 
• Participate in IEP meetings of students on assigned caseload; 
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure that students meet the goals outlined in their IEPs; 
• Develop and implement training opportunities for classroom staff and parents on the role of occupational therapy, normal sensory motor development, and other topics as required;
• Monitor and evaluate equipment and assistive technology needs for students; 
• Communicate with families of students on assigned caseload regarding progress toward IEP goals;
• As aligned to our educational model, helping to collect, manage and analyze academic data to track school performance and student achievement;
• Ability to manage the ambiguity and multiple priorities inherent in an entrepreneurial environment; 
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple constituents

The candidate must have:

• Experience providing occupational therapy services to children in school settings; 
• Certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) 
and a current license to practice Occupational Therapy through the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT); 
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with students in a school setting;
• Demonstrated results working with students; 
• Knowledge of IEP present levels and goal-writing; 
• Knowledge of formal assessments; 
• Knowledge of LAUSD procedures preferred; 
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight; 
• Flexible and able to adapt to different school settings, procedures, and staffs; 
• Excellent organizational and communication skills; 
• Experience working with diverse populations, including English learners, special education and accelerated students;
• Experience with a positive discipline approach; 
• Initiative, tenacity, flexibility, humility, strong work ethic, professional demeanor, sense of humor, and a can-do attitude

 Compensation and Benefits

• Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000
