  • CWC Hollywood (Transitional Kindergarten - 5th Grade, opened in 2010)

  • CWC Silver Lake (Transitional Kindergarten - 8th Grade, opened in 2012)

  • CWC Mar Vista (Transitional Kindergarten - 8th Grade, opened in 2013)

  • CWC West Valley (Transitional Kindergarten - 4th Grade and adding one grade level each year, opened in 2020)

  • CWC East Valley (Transitional Kindergarten - 3rd Grade and adding one grade level each year, opened in 2021)

 

Position Overview

The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintenance of buildings and campus to ensure an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors. This position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently without direct supervision. They will report to the School Operations Manager and will be based out of a school site in Los Angeles. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance duties before, during, and after school hours and during school vacations

  • Clean all areas of school buildings, including floors, windows, office spaces, classrooms, and restrooms

  • Remove trash and recycling

  • Assist in the setup and tear-down of decorations and furniture for school events and programs

  • Deliver supplies and materials to appropriate areas of the building

  • Ensure that the school grounds and surrounding area is free from litter and debris

  • Handle minor repair and maintenance activities such as bulb replacement and floor buffing, as needed

  • Disinfect frequently used items: desks, door handles, phones

  • Maintain cleaning inventory

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, extract, wax, buff, vacuum, etc. all types of floors.

  • Operate floor scrubbers and other equipment

  • Notify School Operations Manager of unsafe conditions

  • Additional duties, as assigned

General Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when requested

  • Ability to maintain and adhere to a cleaning schedule

  • Must be pleasant, professional, dependable and punctual

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change

  • Ability to perform general maintenance

  • Knowledgeable in the use of consumable cleaning supplies and protective agents  

  • Must be able to read basic operating instructions and write as required  

  • Ability to move furniture and fixtures when required 

  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate low-pressure and other heating equipment, ventilating and air conditioning systems, and other building equipment

  • Ability to safely lift 50lbs, move heavy supplies and equipment, and stand and walk for long periods of time.

 

Education/Training/Experience

  • Experience in janitorial, custodial or building maintenance work is preferred, preferably within a school setting.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Range: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
