This is an Intern position, short-term/at will employee. Intern tentative work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. during the internship (please note: hours are subject to change due to department needs). Once internship is completed, recommended Interns may have the opportunity to continue employment as a Classified Substitute Computer Technician with the same rate of pay.
Estimated internship duration is 3 months

COMPUTER TECHNICIAN INTERN
JOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of the Technology Manager, to assist technician teams with projects as assigned; and to do other related work as may be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform technology related support as assigned;
- Install, setup, troubleshoot and repair computer systems;
- Assist in resolving technical problems;
- Perform daily tasks and expectations of a computer technician;
- Assist with the management of district technology inventory;
- Use a variety of electronic test instruments in diagnosing problems;
- Diagnose, repair and provide preventive maintenance for a variety of computers and peripheral equipment;
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE OF
- Personal computer operating systems from Windows OS, Mac OS, Apple iOS, and Chrome OS;
- Common productivity software such as: Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite;
- Network data cabling theory and best practices.
ABILITY TO
- Maintain and repair computer equipment and systems;
- Learn and utilize new and current technologies;
- Follow work and safety procedures;
- Work from site diagrams, plans and specifications;
- Organize and follow work schedules;
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
- Perform duties quickly and accurately;

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License during the course of employment; must be insurable at standard rates by the District’s insurance carrier and maintain such insurability;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out the essential job functions.
Physical Demands
Heavy work involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects weighing up to 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to carry on normal speech and hearing activities; physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate hand and power driven tools and equipment commonly used in the electronics field; ability to bend, stoop, grasp and reach.
Working Conditions
Work outdoors and indoors. Exposure to: seasonal outdoor temperatures 32º-120º, dust, wind and sun, traffic and fuel odors; driving to various district sites.
