Primary Purpose: Follow routine cleaning & maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, & efficiency of building operations & grounds. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read & understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, & safety procedures Knowledge of minor repair techniques Ability to operate cleaning equipment & lift heavy equipment Ability to handle cleaning supplies properly Experience: None Major Responsibilities & Duties: Cleaning 1. Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, & restrooms. 2. Keep school building & grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, & play areas, neat & clean. 3. Comply with local laws & procedures for storage & disposal of trash. 4. Assist in maintaining and inventory of cleaning supplies & equipment & request additional supplies as needed. Maintenance & Repair 5. Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables & chairs. 6. Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, & safety of students & staff. 7. Make minor building repairs as needed & report major repair needs to principal. 8. Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by principal. 9. Assist in setting up facilities for special events. Safety 10. Assist with opening/closing building each school day. 11. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, & safeguarding facilities. 12. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open & all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy. 13. Inspect machines & equipment for safety & efficiency. 14. Operate tools & equipment according to established safety procedures. 15. Follow established safety procedures & techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. 16. Correct unsafe conditions in work area & report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Equipment Used: Buffer, stripper, wet & dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, & weed eater. Working Conditions: Frequent walking, standing, climbing, & heavy lifting & carrying. Work outside & inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, & ladders. Exposure to hot & cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals & materials.
