Qualifications: Education/Certification: An applicant for an educational aide III certificate shall: (1) hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher; (2) have satisfied one of the following requirements: (A) have three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II; or (B) have completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas; and (3) have experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent. Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate (Note: The COCISD Human Resources Dept. can work with you to obtain the Paraprofessional and Educational Aide certificates) Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively Experience: Some experience working with children

Job Description

The CIS Math RTI paraprofessional will provide in class interventions and one on one support for struggling learners. They will provide assistance to the general education teacher and the RTI teacher as needed. Instructional Support 1. Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups. 2. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. 3. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. 4. Help maintain neat and orderly classroom. 5. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. 6. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. 7. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Student Management 8. Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. 9. Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students. Other 10. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. 11. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
